Libby Barksdale is the creator and owner of House of Cord, LLC. Born in New Orleans, raised in Charlotte, NC, where she currently lives with her husband, raising 2 daughters.
Barksdale trained throughout her early years in all areas of art, in and outside of school. Her intense study and love of art blossomed at the Art Institute of Chicago, where she spent her summers during high school, focusing on figure drawing and painting.
Never losing the love or talent for art, she now paints abstracts and loose landscapes, finding a balance between work and her busy life as a wife and mom to her girls.
She also uses her artistic ability to refurbish furniture and design interior spaces for clients. As a merchant at Slate Interiors, her booth showcases her furnishings and art, allowing the public to experience House of Cord in person.
"While I believe in choosing quality pieces for your home that will stand the test of time, I also scour local and online resources to find the "look for less". My artistic ability allows me to see the potential in vintage and pre owned furnishings, which can help a budget stretch further. My ultimate goal for clients is to achieve a "collected" look, making the space their own, embodying how they live and who they are. It is different for everyone. No matter the size of budget or scope of project, I strive to give clients a range of options with product info, so that they are able to choose the perfect elements for their space. " -Libby
